NEWS FLASH: October 27, 2008 - Great news! I recently found out that I'm going to be on "The Morning Blend" TV show. This is a popular talk show on channel 4 in Milwaukee. I'll be appearing on Thursday October 30th at 9:00am. I'm really excited...and a little nervous!
NEWS FLASH: October 17, 2008 - SaveTheOkapi.com was recently mentioned on WKTI radio, thanks to Stacey who is a friend of the family (and the Okapi).
NEWS FLASH: October 12, 2008 - SaveTheOkapi.com was just mentioned in my school newsletter which goes out to hundreds of people, so it looks like the word is getting out about Okapis.
NEWS FLASH: August 29, 2008 - I went to the Brookfield Zoo with all of the donations ($500). It was a great feeling and we also had a really fun time with everyone from the Zoo, but my favorite part was getting to see the Okapi again. Thanks to everyone that came to the site and made a donation.
NEWS FLASH: August 2008 - As you may have read, the first pictures of an Okapi in the wild were recently taken in Africa. It's great that they've found some Okapi in the wild (the story called them "Africa's unicorns"), but remember their habitat is still a very dangerous place and they need our help! The Save The Okapi Story
The first time I saw an Okapi was at the Milwaukee Public Museum. I was 5 years old and it was love at first sight.
Ever since that day, I've been talking about the Okapi to anyone that will listen. I've also had the chance to see Okapis at several zoos (more on that later).
Last year I went to a Zig Ziglar seminar and set a goal to educate at least 1,000 people about the Okapi during the next year.
That's why I developed this website (with my Dad's help) -- to educate people about the Okapi and to help raise money to save them from extinction.
How can you help?
First, you can tell a friend about the Okapi. Most people don't know about them and creating awareness is an important step in saving them. Just send them an email with a link to this site. Do it now!!!
You can also make a donation to the Chicago Zoological Society. The CZS manages the worldwide "Species Survival Plan" for the Okapi, so you'll be directly helping to save them from extinction!
